Meet Loren

Hi, I'm Loren. In 2018, I turned my passion for woodworking into a small custom wood shop after retiring. My mission? To craft lasting, beautiful, unique, and functional furniture pieces.

I specialize in one-of-a-kind hardwood epoxy river tables and desks, meticulously handcrafted using only the finest sourced hardwoods. Each piece I create is truly unique – a functional work of art that will never be replicated.

When you choose a piece from my wood shop, you're not just buying furniture; you're investing in a bespoke creation that will become a cherished part of your home or office for years to come.

The Process

Here's how I transform raw wood into unique, handcrafted furniture.

  • I carefully source and choose the perfect wood for each piece.

  • I assess the wood's unique characteristics to determine the final size, shape, and character.

  • I cut, shape, and flatten the wood as needed, then place it in a mold for the epoxy pour.

  • I mix and color the epoxy resin to achieve the desired effect. This step is the most fun!

  • I pour the prepared resin into the mold and let it cure for 1-2 weeks.

  • Once removed from the mold, I further flatten the piece on a router sled.

  • Depending on the desired outcome, I sand the piece starting from 80 grit, sometimes progressing up to 6000 grit for an ultra-smooth finish.

  • I apply the final finishes to protect and enhance the wood's natural beauty.

  • I complete the piece by selecting and attaching the perfect legs to complement the design.

  • I step back to admire the finished piece, knowing it will bring joy and beauty to its new home. This moment of satisfaction is what drives my passion for craftsmanship.
